Sometimes when we fall down, there’s something down there we’re supposed to find.

Suffering does not make you defective- it makes you human. Therapy should help you develop insight into your problems while also helping you discover and appreciate your strengths. My therapeutic approach is compassionate, thoughtful, and grounded in evidence-based care. I work collaboratively with clients to address their concerns, helping them better understand the patterns that maintain distress while also identifying their strengths, values, and capacity for growth. When desired by my client, I thoughtfully incorporate Biblical principles into treatment in a way that supports their faith and personal values. My goal is to help clients not only reduce symptoms, but also build more meaningful, resilient, and values-driven lives.

About Dr. Heilman

Hello, and welcome. I'm Pam Heilman, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience providing individual therapy to adults. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.

I work with adults ages 18 and older and specialize in helping people navigate challenges such as OCD, depression, generalized anxiety, grief, health anxiety, insomnia, life transitions, panic disorder and agoraphobia, social anxiety, and self-esteem concerns. As a member of the International OCD Foundation, I completed the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute for OCD treatment in 2023, which strengthened my expertise in evidence-based care for OCD and related conditions.

I believe therapy is most effective when it combines practical tools with a genuine, supportive connection. Clients often tell me they appreciate my balance of compassion, directness, and occasional humor. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, respected, and comfortable being yourself, while also helping you develop the skills and insights needed to make meaningful changes in your life.

Many of the people who benefit from my approach are looking for a therapist who is both grounded and empathetic—someone who can help them tackle life's challenges with practical strategies while also fostering greater self-acceptance, resilience, and personal growth.

I currently provide telehealth therapy to clients throughout Illinois as an independent contractor with OakHeart Center for Counseling and Mediation. After relocating to the Huntsville, Alabama area in 2024, I have enjoyed becoming part of a new community and look forward to expanding my services to Alabama residents in the future.

If you're considering therapy, I know taking that first step can feel difficult. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, OCD, a major life change, or simply feeling stuck, I would be honored to support you on your journey toward greater well-being.
